The gift that keeps on giving!

ChiLab has programmed some special Creativity classes for the Christmas season.

With discounts available, these classes are the ideal way to give a very useful present to someone you care about, or maybe to simply spoil yourself.

Hong Kong is regarded as lacking in creativity and innovation – numerous articles in the press and letters to the editor tackle this subject time and time again.

ChiLab’s Creativty and Innovation Module helps people of all ages become more innovative in all of the challenges life hands out every day.

INTERACTIVE LEARNING – IT’S FUN!

Small, Hand-Held Voting Device.jpgWhat’s better than inviting friends around to try out your new toys?  ChiLab had a few friends over to the office for a drink and a trial run of their new polling machines.  A good time was had by all!

These small, hand-held devices – not even as big as the remote for your television – add an entirely new dimension to any learning experience.  They ensure the entire session is interactive, provide immediate feedback to the trainer and keep participants totally involved.

Most importantly, they are anonymous.  The natural reluctance to answer a question, for fear of being wrong or looking stupid, is taken right out of the equation as participants give their answers freely by simply pressing one of a number of buttons on the machine.  The data from all answers given is immediately shown on the presenter’s screen.

There are many uses for this technology in education and ChiLab is at the forefront of innovative teaching once again.

L.A.W.S. FOR LIVING

Wine Appreciation.jpg
Life and Wine Skills – that is the theme of ChiLab’s slightly different skills class, the one that doesn’t exactly fit into the basic eight-module program schedule. This two and a half hour presentation covers some of the basic Life Skills principles – Changing Habits, Creativity and Communication Skills – and finishes with a lively introduction to wine appreciation.

Designed as fun – but fun with a purpose – this module is ideal for companies who wish to reward their staff with a totally different training experience, while still ensuring considerable measurable benefits accrue.

Understanding and developing the ability to change habits – so fundamental to ChiLab’s training strategies – is the first topic, followed by a lively half-hour where a range of creative skills are covered in enough detail to really stimulate the brain cells. Then some important areas of communication – centered around the use of modern technology, as well as the basics of active and empathic listening – round out the personal skills side of the module.

SKILLS FOR LIFE

Creativity.JPG
The ChiLabSkills for Life” program is an eight-module training strategy which aims to teach people new habits for work and life, as well as addressing specific areas of potential weakness. The modules can be taken separately or as a total program. Areas such as Creativity and Communication Skills, for example, can each form a one module course, but the primary section on Changing Habits is recommended for all as the base from which to build.

ChiLab has already tailored courses for specific industries – notably the logistics industry – and this is indicative of the flexibility of the training strategy, as well as the inherent value of all of the work it contains.

Change is important to so many people.

INNOVATION – IT’S ALL AROUND

While the Life Skills classes conducted by ChiLab are designed to help individuals become more creative and innovative in day-to-day matters, big picture innovation can still sometimes take your breath away. Some of the ChiLab team recently visited the ultra-impressive Airbus factory in Hamburg, Germany where they heard about, and witnessed, creativity on a grand scale. The A380.JPG

While Boeing and Airbus have been competing for more than three decades for an increased share of the huge pie that is the large passenger aircraft market, Airbus has done slightly better in recent times. (We have something of a soft spot for Boeing – especially since hearing about how they vastly reduced time taken to educate their aircraft engineers by building a 25 foot-long Mind Map of the processes they needed to learn.)

Airbus, with or without Mind Maps, is certainly an innovative leader. And that does not just refer to the excitement they have created with their new A380 flying hotel. Through their range of products the company has used creativity to provide aircraft of just the right size for their customers’ needs.
